More than ever, we are aware of how necessary it has become to adapt a more responsible consumption while respecting the planet and our health. Many companies are now trying to evolve their practices to reduce environmental impact. Measurable commitments in the shape of very concrete steps on both environmental and social fronts.
73% of consumers believe the COVID-19 crisis is a warning sign that we need to take care of our planet *. While 100 million hectares of forest were lost on this earth in the last 20 years **, the need to limit human activity’s impact on ecosystems is pressing, it requires strong commitments and full transparency on their implementation.
Among the human activities having the greatest consequences on the planet, food is at the foreground: because of soils, water quality, air quality… what we put on our plates impact the entire ecosystem. An even more important weight to take into account on our way to 2050 when there will be 9 billion human beings to feed on the planet!
Because corporate social and environmental responsibilities require companies to share experiences and pool resources, several movements have emerged to help them evolve. Among them, the B Corp movement, created in 2006, which wants to make companies a force for good, and distinguish those that reconcile profit and collective interest. B Corp's objective is to certify companies that integrate social, societal and environmental objectives into their business model on a daily basis. In short: companies that seek to be better for the system as a whole. A long-term approach, which also involves working with its entire community: customers, partners and suppliers are stakeholders in this approach. The objective? To have a positive impact on the entire ecosystem.
At Bonduelle, the respect for natural surroundings and the willingness to place human beings at the heart of the company are part of the company’s values. Following a concrete approach for the planet, food and human beings, Bonduelle committed to the B!Pact because plant-based food is at the centre of tomorrow’s challenges. This commitment is three-fold. First, it is about being better for the planet while setting up responsible farming practices (agronomic guidelines, alternatives to synthetic pesticides, research of alternative crop practices) and also acting on product preparation (reducing water consumption, eco-responsible packaging, renewable energy use…).
Then, it is about improving everyone’s eating habits, using 100% vegetables to avoid food waste; thus developing new delicious recipe that are also respectful of our wellbeing; while supporting research of the Louis Bonduelle Foundation which action relies on renown scientific expertise and commits to taking responsibility by measuring the impact of actions led on the evolution of food practices or lifestyles and their efficiency. Finally, Bonduelle wants to be a better company for human beings by favouring local employment aiming for a null rate of accidents at work by 2025 and pushing employees to become actors of local projects. Every day, Bonduelle strives for responsible farming and food practices for all of us!
