Which side dishes to my barbecue?

Sausages, brochettes, grills: if you always know what to put on the grill during barbecue season, you never know what side to have. A green salad and potatoes cooked in the amber are a great idea but here are a few colourful and joyful recipe ideas to enjoy between friends in the garden.

Salads, a proven classic

Whether you enjoy green salads (rocket, romaine, lettuce…) or raw vegetables (grated carrots, piémontaise…), salad is an essential side to those great moments! Think about offering several vinaigrettes and mixing the flavours: radish, cucumber, lamb’s lettuce and croutons for a Lebanese-style fattouche salad, and even dare to add fruits with your salad. Spinach, tomatoes and strawberries are a flavourful trio! No time to do it all? Think about deli salads ready-to-eat which will allow you to have more choice and please your guests.

Cold quenching and nourishing soups

When it is hot, we are less hungry… but often thirstier. Iced soups are both satisfying and refreshing. Of course, we think of the famous Andalusian gazpacho, but we can also bet on green with a sweet peas-avocados soup, or a green gazpacho filled with vitamins. To serve directly in glasses!

Grilled vegetables to enjoy them even more

Marinated aubergine slices, half zucchini (emptied of its grains), peppers… Vegetables also love the grill. Romaine lettuce’s heart basted with a bit of olive oil can also benefit from being warmed quickly on each side on the barbecue’s grill soaking exclusive flavours. And vegetable brochettes will be loved by all whether they are the classic tomato-zucchini or the more original yakitori-style mushrooms.

Mash, all a great idea

Obviously, mashed potatoes are favourites when it comes to sausage and steak’s sides. But for a change, how about featuring mashed carrots with some fine herbs, or mashed celery with some olive oil? Homemade or frozen, they will be loved by all!
